What is it that you notice when you attend a concert and hear a great cellist? The sound, the reverberation? Did you realise that it isn’t just the cello and the cellist responsible for the wonderful sound? It’s likely that what they are playing on is making the difference. Not the instrument, but the floor, the podium or platform is the key.
There are several technical elements to consider with every practice and performance. The right setup or equipment can make the difference between an agonizing session and the perfect recital. Somewhere to stick your pin, the cello at the right height, right angle and a chair that’s both comfortable and sloping forward with the right ergonomics.
You don’t need to be one of the few featured soloists at the front of the orchestra to deserve a soloist podium, many orchestras will raise their cellists off the base floor using a musician’s podium, not to physically raise them above the other instrumentalists (although this may be a side benefit), but to enhance their sound.
We provide the ideal sound podium for musicians. The Alges Soloist Musician Podium, made from tonewood, works perfectly as a higher-playing platform and sound booster for solo performers. The sturdy structure with a solid beechwood frame with an integrated spike board includes a set of 4 interchangeable plug-in legs, which can be swapped out to adjust the height.
