Construction is straightforward: two side boards and a rear board bolt together with M5 screws, and Roland recommends assembling the stand with two people and a Phillips screwdriver rather than a power tool, which can strip the fittings. The FP-40 then secures onto metal mounting brackets built into the side boards, aligning screws under the piano's base to lock it in place. A matching KPD-70 three-pedal unit attaches to the stand and is available separately for players who want damper, soft, and sostenuto control underfoot.
